Short Film Introduction

A short film is any film not long enough to be classed as a feature film. The are usually considered to be around 40 minutes in runtime and that is including all credits. Short films were initially popular in the 1920's when they were made in black and white, and silent. Big names like Charlie Chaplin, Laurel & Hardy and Buster Keaton, all made it successfully to feature films through starting off in short comedy films. American animation studio; Pixar, are also well known for making there short 10 minute cartoons before screening their big feature films in cinemas, for example; Day & Night and Luxo Jr.
